Most of us associate Mercedes Benz with luxury sedans and sexy sports cars, not mom’s minivan. But, given Mercedes’ legendary status among discerning drivers around the globe, we should not be surprised that a “Best Of” minivan like the Mercedes Benz R63 AMG was in its gene pool. If any carmaker could make a minivan sexy, it’s Mercedes. The R63 AMG sports the classic styling and impressive performance we’ve come to expect from Mercedes. Imagine a minivan that goes 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds and delivers 503 hp at 6,800 rpm with a 32-valve, V-8 under the hood. It’s great to go fast on the water but once you slow down, it’s also nice to have a full complement of creature comforts so you can enjoy the entire outing. You won’t want for any more comforts than those provided by the Magic Powerboat 30 Deckboat speed boat. Make no mistake, the Magic is fast, too, with twin 612-cubic-inch, electronically fuel injected Flat Top engines that each pump out 750 hp. That’s enough power to crank this pleasure palace up to 76 mph in just 20 seconds. It tops out at about 96 mph. The luxurious Magic Powerboat 30 Deckboat has a boatload of amenities, starting with a push-button power bimini top for instant shade and power windscreens for the driver and co-pilot. A Sony CD stereo system and flat-screen monitor for the DVD system are part of the spacious and comfy cabin with contoured lounge areas with hinged bottom cushions that hide ample storage space. This “Best Of” is packed with lots of delightful extras.

Power for the boat was a pair of 612-cubic-inch electronically fuel-injected Flat Top engines, each making 750 horsepower.
After coming on plane in 5.9 seconds, the boat kept accelerating steadily and reached 76 mph in 20 seconds. Lively in the midrange, the cat ran from 30 to 50 mph in 4.6 seconds, 40 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and 40 to 70 mph in 8.2 seconds.
You can spend serious time just watching the bimini top operate. Press a switch at the helm, and the structure rises from the gunwales, and then from its own trunk ahead of the engine compartment. Instant shade. Press the switch again and the top disappears from sight. Instant sun.
As noted, bolsters with power dropout bottoms and power windscreens were supplied for the co-pilot and driver. Pleasant diversions at the co-pilot's station to port included a Sony CD stereo system, an angled footrest and a locking glove box with a heavy anodized lid. There also were two in-sole lockers - one in the cockpit and another in one of the walk-through steps.
As if the relatively spacious cabin - with a facing lounge and a 7-inch flat-screen monitor for the DVD system - ahead of the helm wasn't enough, there was another identical space in the co-pilot's console. Forward of the consoles were contoured lounges with hinged bottom cushions that revealed even more stowage space.
