I would love to hear why the Cosco Alpha Omega votes are leaning toward "leave it." We have one of these seats and it has worked great for us and our son. Let me know what we're missing.

HI Bill,

Let me count the reasons I don't like the Alpha (or any of it's cousins). (From an active CPS technician.)

1) Pain in the rear to install rear facing. Almost always must remove base and use 3 pool noodles.

2) Low top harness height. Few children (I've never met one in 5 years of monthly seat checks) will reach 40 lbs using the harness. Many will be 2-2 1/2, MUCH too young and wiggly for booster use.

3) WILL NOT be the ONLY seat you will need. Will not fit a newborn - harness straps will be at their ears. Will not fit most avg. size toddlers in the harness (they'll be too tall) until 4 yr and 40 lbs. which is the MINIMUM best practice for transitioning a child to a booster. Not a great booster as the seat is wide and it is difficult to keep the lap belt snug on the thighs.

4. Whimpy, super twisty harness straps. Harness needs to be smooth and flat for best protection/function.
