I don't know what the exact model number is of the washer you are recommending, but I have had my GE Harmony washer for four years now (purchased in 2004) and I truly dislike it. I cannot fill the washer to capacity and get my clothes clean without using a pre-soak on the cycle. Using the pre-soak usually results in the clothes being more pilly as the fibers seem to stand up more with the longer time in the water. Just the other day I did a load of delicate darks (blended men's pullover shirts) of which my husband had gotten olive oil on a shirt. I ran it with others on a cycle with pre-soak and the stain was still there. I also don't know how it got it's Energy Star rating if you have to use a pre-soak cycle to get the clothes clean.
Bottom line if you are looking for a washer to use less water and clean your clothes, get a front loader - I wish I did.
The GE Harmony dryer is great though and I would recommend the dryer. If you aren't that worried about if your appliances match - the Harmony dryer is worth the money.
