Black Diamond Skylight
After a day of backpacking, setting up a tent is both a welcome event and a potential for major frustration, especially if it's raining. Over the years, some of us at 3Luxe have almost comes to blows with our backpacking partners while arguing over how to pitch the tent while rain soaked us to our underwear. That's why the Black Diamond Skylight caught our attention and earned "Best Of" status. This tent has poles inside. That's right, inside. So, you stake down the corners and then jump inside to pitch the tent. While potentially a bit awkward (please, no Brokeback Mountain jokes), no one will complain if it's raining. This three-person tent also offers a big vestibule, four storage pockets and corners beefed up with packcloth. It also offers a generous interior with 42 inches of headroom.
From independent research, we selected the Black Diamond Skylight as a 3LUXE "Best Of". To see our other Tent selections visit our Tent Overview.

- But BD wrapped the Skylight in a silky, highly water-resistant, breathable fabric that has no trouble rebuffing a pounding thunderstorm. In fact, we got the material to weep water only when we held a hose to it.
- The Skylight is a hybrid: a single-wall tent in back and a traditional double-wall shelter in front, simultaneously reducing weight and increasing ventilation. That, plus smart roof vents, keeps air circulating.
- Internal Pole System
