Beginning in 1996 two artists, Virginia Young (“Yo”) and Jamie Lowe (“Lo”), opened a custom paint and plaster finish company in Oregon. Creating murals for restaurants and decorating for individual homes put them in constant contact with a lot of paint and soon, concerns for both their personal health and the well-being of the planet compelled them to look for ways to create environmentally-friendly paint. In 2005, they developed the YOLO Colorhouse line, a zero-VOC, Green Seal certified blend of paint. (They also created LittleYOLO, a delightful and fresh palette for nurseries and kids’ rooms – and safe for pregnant women or your young helpers to use, too!) But what makes this “Best Of” such a good pick isn’t just its eco-friendly nature, but that the palette takes its inspiration from Jamie and Virginia’s long experience as professional artists and painters working with real people, in everyday environments.
