Airflo Ridge Fly Fishing Line
Interesting things can happen when some insightful person merges two seemingly disparate things. Take, for instance, ex-auto racer (and Airflo staffer) Masahara Katsumata. He put tires and fly lines together. The end result, Airflo Ridge Line, a fly line that has a "tread," ridges that run along its entire length. This reduces the surface area in contact with the rod guides, which means reduced friction levels. The other beauty of a fly line with tread is that it holds some water during the cast which acts as a lubricant, further reducing friction. As you may recall from high school physics, less friction means less drag, which means more distance to your cast -as much as 5% according to Airflo. That might not seem like much, but a few more feet or even a few more inches can mean the difference between a fish and no fish. And we all know that no fish is no fun.
After thorough independent research, we selected the Airflo Ridge Fly Fishing Line as a 3LUXE "Best Of", to see our other two Fishing Line selections visit our Fishing Line Overview.
