Frank Bryant, the president of Chota, has been fly fishing and paddling canoes for more than 40 years. By our calculations, that means he's been caught in more than 10,000 rainstorms. So we have every reason to believe he knows something about staying dry. The CVX 2 offers some standard features such as plenty of pockets and breathable, waterproof material. But this jacket scored "Best Of" status for three really smart features. The first is that the hood can clip on to any billed cap and will move with you. Gone are those irritating moments when you turn your head only to have your view of a rising fish obscured by the hood. The second smart feature is that you can zip on an optional "skirt" (don't let that word scare you), and convert the jacket from a wader to a knee-length parka. That will come in handy when you're casting from a drift boat or from shore. The third smart feature is that the jacket weighs a mere 16 ounces - lighter, we hope, than most of the fish you’re catching.
