Striped Quilt Edge Grain Chopping Block 2

Striped Quilt Edge Grain Chopping Block
If you're looking for a way to dress up your kitchen countertops, then this 3LUXE "Best Of" winner is just what you need. Al Ladd Fine Edge Woodworking's Striped Quilt Edge Grain Chopping Block is practically a piece of art. A very useful piece of art. Al Ladd Fine Edge Woodworking is known for their impeccable craftsmanship; and we can definitely see the passion that has gone into this cutting board. The honey locust, walnut, cherry, and purpleheart are carefully laid out and framed by a maple border with ebony corners to make it a truly elegant piece that everyone here at 3LUXE would love to have in our own kitchens. The Striped Quilt Edge Grain Chopping Block is as functional as it is beautiful. The raised legs allow a platter to slide underneath the board to easily transfer your choppings and the size (a professional 15x20 inches) and overall construction makes it incredibly stable.

After thorough independent research, we selected the Striped Quilt Edge Grain Chopping Block as a 3LUXE "Best Of", to see our other two Cutting Board selections visit our Cutting Board Overview.

FEATURES
  • A full 15" x 20", it is sized for professional use. The 7/8 " thick edge grain laminated honey locust, walnut, cherry and purpleheart (bordered by maple and ebony) core thickens to 1 1/4" at the walnut edge, and is joined into the 2 3/8 high coved legs at the ends of the board by glued splines in the center, and a countersunk and plugged bolt near each end, threaded into a buried sliding nut, for unmatched stability and warp resistance. This joint is glued only in the the middle of the board, allowing the 15" width to ebb and swell slightly with the seasons. A unique joining system solves the thorny problem of cross-grain movement in a piece of woodworking that is sure to experience plenty of dimensional change.
  • The maple frame on the short sides is a cross grain cut, to match the movement of the panel it encloses. Genuine ebony corners are a crowning touch. This chopping block is a delight to use; the coved ends form a convenient fingerhold for carrying, the raised legs allow a platter to be slid beneath the board for transferring the choppings, and the widely spaced legs make for an extremely stable work surface. The board's unique construction allows it to be both more stable, (more beautiful, of course), and lighter than typical cutting boards of it's size, and its portability will be appreciated by any cook who's fallen behind in her weightlifting regimen.
