Skate skiing is not for everyone. Faster and more intense than classic cross country, efficient skate skiing requires the right trails and equipment like the Rossignol X-ium Skating NIS 1 Ski. Extremely stable and easy to use, the X-ium is a versatile, all-around “Best Of” that will allow you to ski in more diverse trail conditions. Enabled with the Racing Cobra sidecut for free flowing and stable skating, the X-ium allows you to return faster to the steering axis at the end of the gliding phase to get you back on track. The NIS system also allows you to move your bindings fore or aft to adapt to conditions. The Numeric finish makes wax applications easy for consistently peak performance. Advanced Dualtec outer construction delivers fluid and effective gliding and couples with an active cap with vertical sidewalls made from Traix, a rigid material that gives you optimum energy transmission.

- Dualtec: Outer construction for fluid, effective gliding. couples an active cap with vertical sidewalls made from Traix; a rigid material that gives skiers optimum energy transmission.
- Active Cap: Outer construction that changes the ski's behavior radically by coupling tow materials that have different properties. 1. The Rossicap is highly flexible, releases the ski ends and allow the tip and tail to float and glide freely over bumps and hollows. Essentially the snake effect. 2. Multidirectional fiberglass gives the ski added twist strength and increases the ski's directional stability.
- Honeycomb Structure: Inner construction of very light material with excellent compression behavior and strength. Used on all of Rossignol's expert and performance skis.
