The French know a lot about making fine champagne, but some know more than others. So, if you’re trusting your celebration to French champagne, it’s a smart choice to go with someone who’s been at it for a while. Take, for example, the discerning makers of the 1995 Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut. This truly great sparkling wine was produced from Chardonnay grapes from the same vineyards and in the same proportions determined by the House of Salon’s founder, Aimé Salon, early in the 20th century. The House of Salon, along with its neighbor and sister house, Champagne Delamotte (the fifth oldest Champagne house, founded in 1760), are both directed by Didier Depond.
