Kaku
You won’t get lost in the commuter crowd with this “Best Of.” For the design-maven and the style-conscious, the Kaku briefcase by top designer Takumi Shimamura is a true work of art. Sold in the Museum of Modern Art shop, the Kaku is made from Yanase cedar wood that was formerly left to waste when the forests in Umaji Village were thinned each year to promote healthier growth. This sleek, hand-stitched case is deceptively strong because of its many layers of wood and is coated with a sealant to keep it water repellent. The lightweight Kaku has leather handles and a canvas lining and each case is unique due to the variations in the wood grain. Available in natural, mocha or dark-wood stain, with an optional shoulder strap, this “Best Of” is the only briefcase with its own unmistakable scent of cedar and is big and sturdy enough to carry at 17in MacBook Pro.
After thorough independent research, we selected the Kaku as a 3LUXE "Best Of", to see our other two Briefcase selections visit our Briefcase Overview.
